Who is the VFW Auxiliary, Post 4278?
We were charted in September 4, 1994 with 32 members. This auxiliary has been on a mission to serve the members of Post 4278 and veterans and their families of this country and our community in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform.
Today we serve our community members through such programs as Americanism, Hospital, Legislative, Scholarships, Veterans and Family Support (Buddy Poppy, National Home, National Military Services, Fisher House and Youth Activities. At the heart of our organization are committed officers and volunteers who provide services unique to the Auxiliary programs such as working on projects for the Nursing Homes, Assisted Living facilities and VA Hospital.
Each quarter the Auxiliary provides a Birthday Brunch for the Post Veterans and their families. In remembrance of 9/11, goodie baskets are made and presented to the members of the Washougal and Camas Fire and Police Stations. During Gee Creek Safety Stops the members supply cookies and assist the veterans at the booth. At the Camas Days event Americanism related items are given to the children. At Christmas, the Auxiliary assists the Post with Wreaths Across America and provides gifts to veterans’ children.
With the oncoming of June, the Auxiliary provides assistance to the Post and Scouts in conducting the Flag Retirement Ceremony. The Auxiliary provides gift bags, money and a reception to the Scholarship winners. Periodically, the Auxiliary conducts Poppy Drives and a Fundraiser Casino bus with the monies going towards the Veterans Relief Fund. The Auxiliary enjoys performing all such activities, as the work is done with keeping the Veteran in mind.
